There’s even more rumors about Robin’s role in Batman v Superman. Has the X-Force movie lineup been revealed? Legends of Tomorrow casts a love interest for Sara Lance. Plus the first still from Assassin’s Creed, a smidgen of extraDeadpool footage, and new images from Grimm. To Me, My Spoilers!
Marvel
A new Empire interview with Deadpool director Tim Miller may have seemingly hinted that 20th Century Fox, which owns several Marvel properties ranging from Deadpool (of course), to the Fantastic Four and the X-Men, may have lost the rights to the Marvel villain Taskmaster:
I’d love to see Deadpool fight Batman - no, I’m just kidding, that’s not even in the Marvel family! I’d love to see Deadpool go up against Taskmaster who’s another Marvel total fuckin’ badass. But if I was to stay inside the Fox family, I would like to see him fight X-23, the female Wolverine. The female clone of Wolverine.
Although it’s not solid confirmation, the implication there is that Taskmaster—a skull-faced mercenary who’s “photographic reflexes” allow him to replicate the physical skills of any hero he comes across, making him a highly-skilled warrior—is no longer part of Fox’s “family”, something Heroic Hollywood backed up, citing sources saying that the character’s live-action rights have reverted back to Marvel Studios. But Miller may have just misspoken, so take all this as speculation for now.
Batman v Superman
Latino Review is claiming to have more details on Robin’s presence in the movie. The site claims that the bullet-torn suit show in the movie’s Comic-Con trailer is indeed the often-rumored suit of a deceased Jason Todd—but also add that Todd was in fact the second Robin to work with Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne. Dick Grayson, the original Robin of the comics, also existed in this universe, and will apparently get a shoutout during the film.
X-Force
Comicbook.com have uncovered a piece of concept art from artist Greg Semkow that is supposedly based on the team that will appear in the long-in-development X-Force film: Cable, the time-travelling son of Cyclops, Warpath, a Native American mutant with superstrength, Domino, a highly trained marksman who can affect probability, explosive mutant Cannonball, and what appears to be a new version of power-absorbing X-Men regular Rogue.
Assassin’s Creed
A new interview with Entertainment Weekly sees Michael Fassbender discuss his connection to the video game series, and how the movie will appeal to fans of the face-and-neck-stabbing simulator. He hadn’t played the game before taking the role, but:
I’ve played it since [being offered the job], mainly to get an idea of the physicality of the character. We’re striving to find something special. We believe the whole concept around it is special and want to service that the best we can. The fans are really passionate: very specific and they expect accuracy and historical detail. We’re really trying to capitalize and feed on and enjoy the fun element. We’re working hard to make this something special.
A new picture of Fassbender and Ariane Labed in character was also included.
Legends of Tomorrow
Ali Liebert has been cast as Lindsay Carlisle, 1950s nurse who lives her life hiding the fact that she is a lesbian—until she finds herself falling in love with Caity Lotz’s Sara Lance/White Canary. Executive Producer Phil Klemmer sets up the romance in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:
At the start of this episode, we find Sara Lance completely out of place, both in time and place, visiting 1958 ‘Pleasantville, America’ — and also out of place emotionally. After Sara was brought back from the dead on Arrow, she hasn’t been herself — she’s been consumed by a quest for bloodshed and incapable of having romantic feelings for anyone. The strict social norms of the fifties makes this the last place Sara Lance would ever expect to find love with a young, closeted nurse, but that’s how love works — it finds you.
Grimm
TV Line has a gallery of images from the show’s midseason return—there’s plenty more at the link.
Ash vs Evil Dead
Finally, things get messy in a new promo for the show’s upcoming season finale, “The Dark One”.
